Tanzania is home to several endangered species, including:

African Elephant

Threatened by poaching, human-wildlife conflict and habitat loss.

Northern White Rhinoceros

Critically endangered with very few individuals left.

Wild Dog (African Painted Wolf)

Faces habitat fragmentation and human-wildlife conflict.

Sea Turtles: Particularly the Hawksbill and Green turtles, threatened by habitat degradation and illegal trade.

Tanzanian Pygmy Chimpanzee: Critically endangered due to habitat loss and hunting.

Tanzanian Red Colobus Monkey: Endangered due to habitat destruction and hunting.

East African Black Rhino: Critically endangered, primarily due to poaching for their horns.

African Grey Parrot: Endangered due to trapping for the pet trade and habitat loss.

Yellow Billed Oxpecker: Faces threats from habitat destruction and changes in livestock management practices.

Sitatunga: A semi-aquatic antelope that is vulnerable due to habitat loss and hunting.

Giant Ground Pangolin: Endangered due to poaching for their scales and habitat loss.

Various endemic fish species: Certain freshwater fish species in Lake Victoria and other water bodies are threatened by pollution and overfishing.

Tanzanian Forest Elephants: A subspecies of African elephants that are increasingly endangered due to habitat destruction and poaching.

Moshi is a town located in northern part of Tanzania, near the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. The region surrounding Moshi, including Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, is rich in biodiversity. It hosts various ecosystems, from lush rainforests at lower elevations to alpine deserts at higher altitudes. Conservation efforts aim to protect this biodiversity, which includes endemic species and critical habitats.
